Young people: share your anti-hunger work

A message from Caritas in Brazil to teenagers and young adults around the world:

From the southern hemisphere, we of Caritas Brasileira call on the young people of Caritas and the whole world to raise their voices and be creative on behalf of people without food. Please post photos and descriptions of your activities on www.facebook.com/CaritasFoodforAll

In December 2013, inspired by Jesus Christ’s example of sharing bread, Caritas Internationalis launched the worldwide campaign “One human family, food for all”. We are supported by the words of Pope Francis, who said that it is a “scandal that one billion people still suffer from hunger today, in a world that has enough food to feed everyone”,

Caritas members have joined together to eradicate hunger before 2025. Several months before the launch of the campaign, Caritas Brazil invited young people from the Caritas network around to the world to an international meeting in the city of Mario Campos, Minas Gerais. During these days the participants were encouraged to “Share bread so that young people can live!”

The young men and women representing their Caritas at the meeting made a strong commitment to organise anti-hunger actions in their dioceses, communities and countries.

While we encourage young people to participate in the campaign until it ends in June 2015, we ask for a special focus on 12 August 2014, which is the International Youth Day declared by the United Nations. On this day, we invite Caritas organisations and their young people to take part in a large-scale action to achieve a world free from hunger.

Especially in August, please share your campaign activities–videos, photographs, interviews, and news articles–via social media to show how young men and women are actively participating in the campaign.

We know young people around the world are helping the hungry. So please show us what you’re doing! Together we can create “one human family, with food for all”!
