The universal exposition will be based around the theme of providing enough healthy food for everyone in the world: Feed the Planet, Energy for Life.
Caritas Internationalis is one of 11 civil society organisations which will take part in the Expo.
“The Expo provides a valuable opportunity to explore the issues around providing enough food for everyone. Through our campaign, One Human Family, Food for All, hunger is a key priority for the Caritas confederation.
“We welcome the opportunity to share our experiences in this field, but also to learn from others during our time at the Expo,” said Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, president of Caritas Internationalis.
Caritas will participate in the six-month Expo with a number of activities including a visit to the Expo by Caritas representatives from all over the world, a photo exhibition, round tables and a conference on forgotten conflicts.
Cardinal Rodriguez will meet the press at 12pm on Monday 24th February at the Archbishop’s palace, Piazza Fontana 2, Milan.
Other speakers at the press conference will be Bishop Giuseppe Merisi, president of Caritas Italiana, Luciano Gualzetti, deputy director of Caritas Milan and a representative from the Expo.
